What is TruAge
TruAge is an innovative, digital age-verification solution that goes beyond today’s simple birthday math to securely verify age and better protect retailers and their frontline staff.
TruAge works by confirming a customer is old enough to make a purchase without revealing their personal information. They do so by extracting only the necessary data points from a customer's driver’s license to verify their age and validity of ID: driver’s license number, issuing state, expiration date, and date of birth.
Then, TruAge encrypts those data points and provides retailers a unique token ID appended to their transaction log to confirm age was verified.
How it Works
Once signed up, age verification works in 4 easy steps:
- When an age-restricted item is scanned, Passport will prompt the cashier to verify age
- The cashier scans the customer’s driver’s license or their QR code in the TruAge app (California mobile driver’s license can also be scanned)
- TruAge verifies the customer’s age and validity of license
- The customer pays for the item(s) and goes about their day
