Working at Invenco in Malaysia

Malaysia_Reduced

Invenco’s Malaysian operation has been based out of Petaling Jaya since 2009  and was a service center for Invenco’s predecessor for some years before that. The office is located in downtown close to transport hubs for rail and bus. We are on the third floor of a five-story building in one of the more established business areas.

It accommodates a secure service center with an ESD certified clean room with workspace for repairs and secure servicing. The office is also home for our SE Asian business development and administration teams.

We are a multi-cultural bunch with a mix of Malaysian, New Zealand, Indian and Spanish employees. It makes for a diverse and entertaining work environment.  We work hard but we also work hard to have some fun at the same time.

BENEFITS

In addition to the Invenco Dozen which are available to all employees, there are some specific benefits available to our Malaysian based team. Many of these contribute to our Wellbeing and Social programs which are enthusiastically run and supported by Invenco volunteers.   Some of the key ones include:

  • We celebrate every cultural festive occasion represented by staff in the office
  • All Malaysian holidays are observed
  • Support our own social badminton team
  • Medical card for every employee and their family
  • Our shared lunches are legendary

Work stories

These are real accounts of what it’s like to work in a role like yours – but as our team is a shy lot we’ve used a made-up name and image, so as not to disclose their identity.

New to Petaling Jaya?

In a ten-minute drive from the office here are just some of cool things you can find:

KL Temple iStock-454106537Petaling Jaya quite literally means “success”.  It was founded in 1954 as Malaysia's first planned town, with PJ having become a busy commercial and residential hub in its own right.  Located in the heart of PJ, the Invenco office is a short distance to train the station which takes you to the centre of KL downtown 25 minutes.  There you will find the famous Petronas Twin Towers, Sri Mahamariamman Temple – the largest temple in Kuala Lumpur – which is on the edge of Chinatown where you go for look-alike brands from all over the world (plus some amazing restaurants and bars).

Downtown in Putrajaya, is where you’ll also find Perdana Putra, residence of the Malaysian Prime  Minister, with park-like grounds that are a short walk from Putra Lake and the Pink Mosque.  A 15 km drive out from the inner-city high rise is the revered Batu Caves, the most sacred Hindu shrine in Malaysia, and one of the most visited Hindu pilgrimage locations outside of India.  Walk the 272 steps to the temple set inside the caves.

Sunway Lagoon downloadSunway Lagoon is a few minutes drive from the office and features six distinct theme parks with 90 attractions and 150 different animal species.  Also in Petaling Jaya is Kidzania a sprawling theme park offering immersive career role playing from firefighting to surgery. Whilst, just 30 minutes drive away is Kota Damansara - a 6,600 hectare community forest with 16 km of hiking trails and a diversity of flora and landscapes – great for family hikes and mountain biking.

The area around the office itself is a foodie’s delight with just about every kind of cuisine imaginable.   There is naturally a big emphasis on local flavors with the famed Durian (the King of Fruits in Malaysia) being found in abundance when in season.
